Laubach Literacy Ontario (LLO) has developed a series of resources to support LBS agencies in increasing their capacity to support apprenticeship – with the goal of creating apprenticeship-friendly LBS services. There are four modules:

This resource introduces Ontario’s apprenticeship system and explains why apprenticeship is an important and timely goal path for Get SET agencies to address. It outlines how Get SET programming is a strong fit for apprentices—supporting foundational skill development, workplace readiness, and progression through training requirements—while also examining current labour-market factors driving increased demand for skilled trades and apprentices.

Participants are guided through practical planning steps to strengthen local apprenticeship service delivery: conducting a community market analysis, analyzing the skills needs of the apprenticeship talent pool, and identifying key apprenticeship stakeholders (e.g., employers, unions, training delivery agents, EO partners, and community supports). The resource also provides direction on how to work effectively with these stakeholders, clarifies the criteria Get SET agencies must meet to serve learners on the apprenticeship goal path, and helps agencies assess their readiness by identifying current strengths, determining fit, and pinpointing priority areas for development.

Finally, the resource connects apprenticeship goals to the Skills for Success framework and supports agencies to prepare staff to design or enhance apprenticeship-focused services that respond to evolving local needs.
