Laubach Literacy Ontario (LLO) has developed a series of resources to support LBS agencies in increasing their capacity to support apprenticeship – with the goal of creating apprenticeship-friendly LBS services. There are four modules:
 This
practical, field-informed module explores how Get SET service providers can
support apprentices in the final stages of their journey toward certification.
Recognizing that apprenticeship completion rates in Ontario remain a challenge,
the module highlights why completion matters for learners, employers, and the
workforce, and examines common barriers that prevent apprentices from
finishing.
Participants
explore completion pathways and identify where Get SET services can provide
targeted, high-impact support. The module offers practical strategies to
address common challenges, including reading comprehension, math gaps, study
skills, test anxiety, and difficulties with multiple-choice exams. It also
outlines potential accommodations and provides guidance on helping learners
advocate for appropriate supports.
Grounded
in the five Get SET service functions, the module helps agencies assess how
apprenticeship exam preparation aligns with their mandate and community
context. By the end, practitioners will have a clear framework for determining
how their agency can support apprentices in achieving certification and
employment success. |
