In this course, learners will learn tips about the employment world. The central aim of the course is to support Deaf learners’, and in particular newcomers’, independence and comfort navigating employment services and strategies, including how to look for and apply for a job, and to strengthen their communication skills in ASL.

Curriculum Resource #1: Introduction

This resource will act as an introduction to the course: course overview, learning objectives, and the navigation of content, videos, and resources.

Curriculum Resource #2: Building a Resumé

This resource will introduce learners to what a resumé is, its purpose, and how you can build one – even if you don’t have any work experience! The resource will introduce vocabulary to do with resumé building and useful skills.

Curriculum Resource #3: Looking for a Job

This resource will support learners in how to look for a job, including how to access and navigate online job sites and resources. This resource will introduce vocabulary and basic skills for how to communicate with prospective employers.

Curriculum Resource #4: Interview Skills

This resource will support learners in accessing tips, vocabulary, and skills for how to navigate a job interview. Learners will engage with activities and additional resources to enhance their learning, and in blended learning sessions, practice their skills!

Curriculum Resource #5: Networking

This resource will support learners in accessing tips, vocabulary, and skills for how to network and find job opportunities. Learners will engage with activities and additional resources to enhance their learning, and in blended learning sessions, practice their skills!
