Basic Google Features and Searching Online

Learners will create Google accounts and explore all options in the Google App Launcher. This course also offers Gmail instructions and helpful tips for using Google Search.

Basic Fundamentals of Smartphones

The goal of this resource is to provide learners with information on the basic functions and tools of Android and Apple smartphones.

Communication in an Evolving World

This resource can be used in a self-directed format or in a group setting with a facilitator to guide learners through the material. A variety of tasks/activities are included throughout the resource. The learning outcomes included in this resource are as follows: 

- Identify parts of the communication process 

- Name different modes (or tools) that we use to communicate 

- Describe some of the differences in communicating synchronously and asynchronously 

- Discuss the benefits of asynchronous communication 

- Use images, topography and space to communicate asynchronously 

If using the print version of this resource, colour printing is preferable.

Digital Skills Self-Assessment

This resource can be used to help learners assess some of their digital skills in the following areas: 

• hardware and Windows operating system features; 

• Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; and 

• internet browsing 

At the end of the self-assessment, learners reflect on their digital skills and areas for improvement. An answer key is included at the end of the resource.

Password Evaluation Activity

In this resource learners will use an acronym (LIDDS) to evaluate the strength of passwords. They will then write two short reflections about what they have learned in the activities. A marking guide in included at the end of the resource.

Multi-factor Authentication Activity

In the first part of this resource learners will read through some short material on multi-factor authentication and complete a writing activity. In the second part learners will make a list of five of their own accounts for which they should enable multi-factor authentication and explain why it is important for each different account. They can choose to present their responses as a video, voice note, meeting, or draw a picture. A marking guide is included at the end of the resource.

Decolonizing Digital Delivery

This is an infographic resource for LBS educators that supports decolonization of digital delivery. It provides descriptions, definitions, and strategies around digital delivery, but many of the ideas and concepts apply more broadly to inclusive education. The resource could be part of a P.D. session or could be used individually. The infographic is best viewed digitally to ensure the colours remain intact, though it can be printed on letter size paper.
