Community Literacy of Ontario (CLO) is pleased to share our Newcomers to Ontario: Settlement.org resource.

Newcomers to Ontario – Learning about Housing Using Settlement.org will help newcomers who are adult learners in Literacy and Basic Skills programs explore the Settlement.org website and learn about the critical topic of housing. While this curriculum resource was specifically written for newcomers, the content may have broader application to other adult learners who are interested in this topic. Newcomers to Ontario – Learning about Housing Using Settlement.org embeds the Government of Canada’s Skills for Success model. Using the Settlement.org website places a large focus on digital and problem solving skills. The tasks and activities also include some of the other Skills for Success.

This resource has been designed for learners with Level 2 skills.

While this curriculum resource was specifically written for under-represented groups, the content may have broader application to other adult learners who are interested in this topic.

This resource is designed to be used by learners in various settings, including independent learning, 1-to-1 tutoring, small group and classroom learning.
