This is an overview of basic concepts relating to mental health and addiction. The material provides a basic primer on mental health and addiction, services available in Ontario as well as basic concepts from the Mental Health Act. The curriculum focuses on what steps to take to maintain positive mental health and what steps to take when a family member is suspected of mental illness. This material is not intended to treat, diagnose, cure or prevent mental illness.

Learners are encouraged to seek qualified mental health services if needed.

This curriculum includes the following modules:

  • Managing Addictions
  • Managing Stress and Anxiety
  • Managing the Effects of Trauma
  • How do You Know You Need Help and Where to Find It
  • How to Improve Your Mental Health
