We are revising our Training Support policy to match the new requirements that came out in a ministry memo on Feb 7/19.
"The Literacy and Basic Skills service provider guidelines and agreement both state that training supports for learners are flow-through funds that are meant to be used to remove barriers to participation in the Literacy and Basic Skills program. They are not meant to incentivize program participation. Training supports could cover various needs such as, but not limited to: child care, transportation, academic credential assessment, and accommodation(s) for persons with disabilities."
Would the GED application fee be considered an academic credential assessment? and what other costs are programs now considering to remove barriers to learning?
As we are making changes, we also are re-evaluating our Child Care subsidy amount and Mileage rates. What amount of support are other LBS agencies providing for their learners?
Thanks for any help you can provide
