This resource contains sample tasks and activities that are adapted from the “Selected Assessment Tools”, provided by MTCU and other tools that are currently being used in the literacy field across Ontario. There is a separate section for each of the five OALCF goal paths.

This set of seven workbooks embed Essential Skills activities within employment-readiness tasks. These resources have been developed for people who want to look for employment while strengthening their Essential Skills. These workbooks will be most successful if they are used in a facilitated group setting, as many exercises include working with other people. There are several computer-related activities so the users need access to a computer and the Internet.
The topics reflect the steps people take when looking for a job. For best results, these resources can be used as a series (1-7). But if someone doesn't need the information in every workbook, they can just choose the ones with the content that is right for them. The curriculum can be used to develop targeted training.

This curriculum is designed to teach the skills for extracting from films, broadcasts, and presentations. In 12 units, it covers more than how to view an online video or listen to a podcast. It also looks at evaluating and using the information in these formats, including strategies for finding main ideas, listening carefully, understanding figurative language, separating fact from opinion, using thinking styles, using memory and taking notes. There is an instructor's manual and a learner's workbook.

There are also alignment charts for each curriculum, colour-coded to show the competencies, task groups and complexity level for each of the activities/tasks.
